Elle a d\u00e9but\u00e9 \u00e0 Bridgetown (Barbade) le 16 mai 2023, a fait escale \u00e0 Paramaribo (Suriname) les 11-12 juin 2023 pour le changement d&#8217;\u00e9tape, et s&#8217;est termin\u00e9e \u00e0 Recife (Br\u00e9sil) le 3 juillet 2023.<\/p>\n<p>La mission AMARYLLIS-AMAGAS a pour objectif de mieux \u00e9tablir le r\u00f4le majeur mais incertain jou\u00e9 par la r\u00e9gion amazonienne dans le syst\u00e8me climatique global de la Terre. Son r\u00f4le en tant que puits de carbone terrestre d\u00e9pend de processus encore mal compris : l&#8217;intensit\u00e9 et la r\u00e9partition des pr\u00e9cipitations continentales, la fertilisation des sols par la poussi\u00e8re saharienne et la stabilit\u00e9 potentielle des hydrates de gaz form\u00e9s dans la zone d&#8217;accumulation des s\u00e9diments transport\u00e9s par le fleuve Amazone (d\u00e9sign\u00e9 ci-apr\u00e8s sous le nom de \u00ab c\u00f4ne de l&#8217;Amazone \u00bb).<\/p>\n<p>Compte tenu de ces incertitudes, la mission a quatre objectifs scientifiques principaux :<\/p>\n<p>(1) reconstruire l&#8217;histoire climatique pass\u00e9e de l&#8217;Amazonie et du nord-est du Br\u00e9sil, en termes de variabilit\u00e9 r\u00e9gionale et de m\u00e9canismes contr\u00f4lant les pr\u00e9cipitations et la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, sur diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9chelles de temps des derniers millions d&#8217;ann\u00e9es (allant de l&#8217;\u00e9chelle anthropique \u00e0 celle des mill\u00e9naires et des cycles orbitaux) ;<\/p>\n<p>(2) \u00e9valuer la contribution de la poussi\u00e8re saharienne d\u00e9pos\u00e9e dans cette r\u00e9gion, tant \u00e0 l&#8217;heure actuelle que sur les derniers millions d&#8217;ann\u00e9es, en particulier son r\u00f4le de fertilisant pour la for\u00eat amazonienne ;<\/p>\n<p>(3) examiner la relation entre les hydrates de gaz et les glissements de terrain sous-marins \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle dans la partie sup\u00e9rieure du c\u00f4ne de l&#8217;Amazone, en \u00e9valuant la circulation des fluides et les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s physiques des s\u00e9diments ;<\/p>\n<p>(4) \u00e9valuer l&#8217;\u00e9tendue des \u00e9missions de gaz dans l&#8217;oc\u00e9an \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9chelle du c\u00f4ne de l&#8217;Amazone dans son ensemble.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rapport de mission : <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.13155\/98738\">https:\/\/doi.org\/10.13155\/98738<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-image-element \" style=\"text-align:center;--awb-caption-title-font-family:var(--h2_typography-font-family);--awb-caption-title-font-weight:var(--h2_typography-font-weight);--awb-caption-title-font-style:var(--h2_typography-font-style);--awb-caption-title-size:var(--h2_typography-font-size);--awb-caption-title-transform:var(--h2_typography-text-transform);--awb-caption-title-line-height:var(--h2_typography-line-height);--awb-caption-title-letter-spacing:var(--h2_typography-letter-spacing);\"><span class=\" fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-2 hover-type-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1560\" height=\"1040\" title=\"AMARYLLIS &#8211;
