CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0pi\u00e9g\u00e9 dans les glaces de l\u2019Antarctique r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que la pCO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0de l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re au cours des p\u00e9riodes glaciaires \u00e9tait ~ 50-100 ppm plus faible que la valeur de pCO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0enregistr\u00e9e en p\u00e9riodes interglaciaires avant l\u2019activit\u00e9 anthropique. Les \u00e9tudes montrent par ailleurs, une \u00e9troite corr\u00e9lation entre la pCO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0atmosph\u00e9rique, le volume des glaces, et les temp\u00e9ratures Antarctiques, ce qui sugg\u00e8re la pCO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0comme facteur for\u00e7ant ou amplifiant les cycles glaciaires\/interglaciaires, et met en lumi\u00e8re l\u2019importance des hautes latitudes Sud dans les changements pal\u00e9oclimatiques rapides. Un \u00e9l\u00e9ment cl\u00e9 de la circulation thermohaline, est le chemin retour des masses d\u2019eau profondes vers la surface via la divergence antarctique. Ce m\u00e9canisme, appel\u00e9 la \u00ab\u00a0pompe physique\u00a0\u00bb, en partie contr\u00f4l\u00e9 par la position latitudinale et l\u2019intensit\u00e9 des vents d\u2019ouest (westerlies), influe sur les transferts de chaleur et de carbone depuis le r\u00e9servoir oc\u00e9anique profond vers l\u2019oc\u00e9an de surface et l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re, avec un impact significatif \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle du globe. Par ailleurs, \u00e0 l\u2019action de la pompe physique s\u2019ajoute celle de la \u00ab\u00a0pompe biologique\u00a0\u00bb, correspondant au transfert du Carbone Particulaire (organique ou inorganique) depuis les eaux de surface de l\u2019oc\u00e9an vers l\u2019oc\u00e9an profond via l\u2019activit\u00e9 respective des producteurs primaires et du plancton calcaire, qui pourrait expliquer une part importante des changements de pCO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0atmosph\u00e9rique au cours des derni\u00e8res d\u00e9glaciations. Cependant, peu d\u2019\u00e9tudes s\u2019int\u00e9ressent \u00e0 l\u2019action coupl\u00e9e des pompes physiques et biologiques dans le pass\u00e9. Par ailleurs, les relations entre m\u00e9canismes des pompes physiques et biologiques en surface avec les compartiments plus profonds de l\u2019oc\u00e9an sont peu contraintes. Les reconstitutions des changements du cycle du C dans les masses d\u2019eau interm\u00e9diaires et profondes, et des transferts vers la surface s\u2019appuient sur le d\u00e9veloppement r\u00e9cent de traceurs g\u00e9ochimiques mesur\u00e9s dans les fossiles (foraminif\u00e8res benthiques notamment) tels que les rapports \u00e9l\u00e9mentaires (Mg\/Ca, Sr\/Ca, U\/Ca) et\/ou le <sup>14<\/sup>C. Sachant que plus de 90 % du carbone organique pi\u00e9g\u00e9 dans le milieu marin se trouve dans les s\u00e9diments de la marge continentale, nos recherches visent aussi \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer les budgets de carbone c\u00f4tier, en particulier dans les fjords, qui sont des \u2018hotspots\u2019 pour le stockage \u00e0 long terme du carbone organique d&#8217;origine marine et terrestre.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p><strong>Objectifs du Th\u00e8me<\/strong>\u00a0: L\u2019objectif de nos activit\u00e9s de recherche est de reconstruire la dynamique des upwellings austraux, des changements d\u2019efficacit\u00e9 de la pompe biologique australe et des apports de carbone organique terrestre du r\u00e9cent jusqu\u2019aux\u00a0 derniers 800 ka, afin de comprendre leurs impacts sur les changements de pCO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0atmosph\u00e9rique dans le pass\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p><strong>Liste Permanents\/Non permanents\u00a0:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>C.
